]]>When it comes to social media there’s a lot of do’s and don’ts, blogs, videos and guides that can often confuse more than help. So instead of a guide filled with technical jargon that leaves you baffled, I’ve complied my top 5 social recruiting basics.
Use the right networks
Using the right social networks can help you connect and engage a huge number of candidates and clients. Although the major social networks have users of all ages and demographics it is important you do some research to make sure you are using the right networks. Spend your time wisely by engaging in the right networks.
Engagement
Biggest tip of them all! Get involved, outreach to your target audience! Be that re-tweeting, asking questions, following the relevant people in your sector, commenting on blogs or sharing updates and relevant content. Get your name out there and get yourself heard. Take a look at our blogs on growing your online profile and the top 5 blogs for the savvy recruiter.
Branded Profiles
Make sure all your social channels follow your company brand i.e. correct company logo, font and corporate colour scheme. Maintain consistency throughout each network. See our blog on ‘All-Star LinkedIn Profile’ for tips on how to create a great LinkedIn profile.
Job Distributions
Whilst social recruiting is fundamentally looking to fill the jobs you have to offer be careful not to over load your posts/tweets with just jobs. Whilst it’s essential to advertise your jobs remember you also want to engage with your audience so balance out your job postings with relevant content and useful tips/advice.
Be Human
Don’t be a robot! Bring your personality to your social outreach don’t just automate. A feed of repeat messages is unlikely to engage any passive candidates. Inject character into your updates but remember if you wouldn’t say it over the phone it’s probably not right for social.
Tracking
Same way you would track call times, conversions, daily recruitment tasks, track your social activity too. Look to see what works and what doesn’t. Vary your post times and use link shorteners to track activity. Work out when your audience is most active and schedule accordingly.

]]>How many candidates do you source through social networks? How many of your consultants have a Twitter/ Facebook/ LinkedIn account?
Even the few companies that have not yet engaged in social via corporate profiles are likely to be referenced by an employee somewhere online. Social media usage/ social recruiting policies are designed to help educate employees, set expectations and protect your business.
A social recruiting policy cannot prevent a disgruntled employee posting inappropriate material or revealing classified secrets; it will however, help employees know what is acceptable and outline appropriate behaviour.
The HRS Guide Social Media Policy is intended to be used as a starting point, use the guide as a base to customise your own policy.
When distributing your social policy talk employees through the document and explain why specific rules have been put into place. Fears and reservations regarding social media and recruitment are often a result of lack of guidance; standalone a social policy will have little effect on a business. Use the introduction of a social policy to turn your consultants into brand ambassadors and master social recruiters.

]]>The post 5 Tips for growing your profile online appeared first on Recruitment Software for Recruitment Professionals | HRS.
]]>Grow your online profile, establish yourself as THE recruiter in your sector. Check out HRS’s 5 top tips that are not only easy and simple to follow but will help get your online profile polished to perfection.
1. Create an ‘All Star’ LinkedIn profile
Not as complicated as you think, start by having a great photo. By great photo I don’t mean one of you on a Saturday night! I mean a professional photo appropriate to the sector you recruit for.
Next add all of your professional experience, let candidates know why you’re the best recruiter within the sector. To improve further credibility add relevant links and attach relevant documents to boost your profile rating.
Make sure you have at least 5 skills preferably that are relevant to potential candidates. Drill down into the areas that you recruit in, for example your skills could include ‘sales recruitment, senior sales recruitment’ etc.
Write a strong summary about yourself so your audience can gather as much information about you as possible. Reference your target industry and make contact information clear.
2. Get involved with twitter chats
A great way to build your profile and connect with potential candidates is to join in with relevant twitter chats. Regularly engaging in conversations will encourage people to follow you meaning you’ll be at the forefront of their mind when it comes to securing their next career move.
For a full list of Twitter chats check out the HRS Hashtag list. If you are looking for recruitment advice get involved with #RecruiterHour every Tuesday night 8-9pm (GMT).
3. Make the right connections
Whether it’s on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or Google+, make sure your following and connecting with the right people. Set aside some time to research and connect with the authority figures in your target sector.
4. Share content
Be it your own or someone else’s, sharing content or posts is a great way to grow your profile. If you are responsible for recruiting sales professionals share articles and tips on closing deals etc. People will take an interest in what you have to say which can lead to some great discussions.
5. Post Regularly
If your going to have a social media profile, make sure you actively use it. Don’t just post something once and never go back. If people think your profile is dead, they may think you’ve left the industry or are no longer in the recruitment business. Not good if your looking to connect with candidates!
I hope these tips are helpful however don’t be afraid to get involved if you have some of your own, we’d love to hear from you. Get involved using the links below and tell us what you think.
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+. Friend, follow and connect.
